RE: Good Sams or AAA

I used coach net just today, after being at a campground and realizing I had a tire problem with my Good Year G670, to the point I was not moving. I called a local Good Year Truck center here in Grand Island, NE and they were not affiliated with coach, but after talking with coach net I was told if they accept their credit card ( which they did) they paid for the after hour service call to bring out a new tire for our coach. It was a very smooth transaction with no hassle and the people on both ends ( Good Year and Coach Net was very helpful and friendly. I am convinced now that it was money well spent.

RE: Watch carefully which CG you stay at in Tennessee

The reason I/ME would've left is not because THEY have guns and knives, but because I too have guns. I've been around too long to willingly place myself in such a predicament (where I might shoot someone). I'll take my chances at the Walmart parking lot, where I've never had a bad night's rest.
And they have 24 hr security. :B

RE: What breed of dog is that?

We do, so I understand completely!
When we are out walking we almost always get asked about their breed. When we reply "Lhasa Apsos" we get some rather humorous attempts at repeating their breed name. Like "Oh Lapso Oopsies I've heard of them" or "Loosa whatsa?" or small children seem to say something like "Lotsa Oppies, they sure are cute". I just smile, say the name correctly and then give them a short history lesson on the ancient Tibetan breed of dog.
:B
How ya think poor ol' Maggie feels.... loll.. she is something, not really sure no more, but she has it made...

RE: What breed of dog is that?

People all the time ask what breed she is. I tell them Bichon Frise, and they say like a poodle. I don't keep her in the Bichon full cut, so can see where they might think that, except for the tail, the ears, the body shape, the nose, the height, weight, she looks just like a poodle. LOL
haha...doncha love people? I have a large,at least 1/2 Standard Poodle (We *know* his mother was a standard, but who knows about the father??) He's a strikingly handsome dog and looks very poodley, but with a long tail since he never had his tail docked. We hear a lot of comments everywhere we go: is it a goldendoodle, a labradoodle? Some kinda doodle, I'm sure.
Chock, that reminds me of several years ago when we live in KC, Mo we got a dog from some folks (free) and the ad said (mom) registered Keeshound and (father) a neighborhood romeo, so it was when we got there the last puppy was a male no less and so it was that day in 1982 we took Sam home with us.

RE: AARP

Well... it's here, that time of my life when I am getting mail from AARP. :E
Of course, they want me to become a member and reap the many benefits of belonging to their group. I guess I haven't ever really thought much about joining AARP...but now I am being solicited every few weeks... they want me, they really want me! LOL I still don't feel like I am old enough to join but they seem to think I am. :W :P
So for those of you who are members of AARP, please enlighten me on whether you actually take advantage of the benefits they offer. If so, what do you enjoy the most savings on using your AARP membership?
What about car insurance rates, are they discounted using your agent or with only a few select companies?
(We already get VERY low rates based on our clean driving records, multi-vehicle, complete coverage -home, RV, vehicles, & boat-, credit rating, etc.)
Travel discounts?
(Since we are RVers/campers more than anything, I am not sure that is such a great benefit)
Reduced legal fees?
(Has anyone actually received a discount from a lawyer?)
Their magazine?
(I already get all sorts of free magazines that I have no idea where they came from.... is this one interesting?)
I think I wanted to ask about other stuff but I can't remember what it was... LOL Maybe I am more qualified to join than I like to think. :B
So what's your take on AARP?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!
AARP? ya gettin old :B sorry could not resist, cya in a few weeks. No either one of us belong, I will explain later if needed.

RE: Partially closed campgrounds...

It is always nice when the prices are reduced but if they are not them one has the choice to camp there or not.
That is very true, and contrary to popular belief it can be done just for asking. If you actually ask the owners and not some counter help it is possible in certain areas at this time of the year. Been there and done that and there is nothing wrong with it. Some say get real, just ask but be sure you ask the proper folks.

RE: RV parks in Florida

Come to North Florida, not too cold and not so crowded. I may have had my heat on 10 days last year.
Sorta fond of the area myself, guess we are coming back to Panama City for January again and maybe Feb. Split between there and Gulf Shores last year. Going to try Emerald Coast RV for January and may extend that for Feb. Did the 14 day thing last year at St. Andrews and tho its a great place , just like to have the full hook-ups for that amount of time.

RE: Niagara Falls Don't be a sucker like me

Just got back, we went down early in the am to just look around and found that if you park up the robert moses highway a couple miles north at the whirlpool state park (for free) there is a great walking biking path that takes you right to the falls. We rode the bikes in and just locked them up. Biking around goat island was a great way to see them. We went in Sept during the week, a packed summer weekend could prove different.
We also parked for free at the information center (across the walkway to the aquarium) for nothing and walked the 1/2 mile to the falls.
We were there in May and also parked at the information center for free. The package we bought in the information center also included a trolley pass that picked up and dropped off right at the Center. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip.
Yep, we were there the first week of June and used the same lot. Was not quite busy at that time it did not appear. Was truly a great trip as well.

RE: Pet wash on the road

If you had someone to wash & groom your pet at the park would you appreciate the convenience?
We are travelling with 2 dogs (mini weiner & a beagal) and wonder if there is anyone that does grooming on the road?
Generally we ask the campground that we are at for recommendations or look up someone in the phone book. Ours have been groomed in lots of places and most of the time it has worked out fine.

RE: Yellowstone NP ????

We went in July & spent 7 days & would like to go again. We did lots of hiking & also the Roosevelt/cookout whick was really fun. What we did was divide the park into sections & explored that area for the day. Another fun thing was to take our gas grill with us every day & found great picnic areas at night & grilled out, our kids enjoyed that.
Great advice. Bringing a grill or small burner and eating lunch in the picnic areas was really nice. Skip the expensive but mediocre buffet foods and waiting in long lines to eat.
Ya we ate at one of the buffet at Old Faithful and IMO it was not that good for the price, but hey we tried it once.

RE: Campground Help Please Arkadelphia AR and Rockdale RV

We will be doing our trip to the valley very soon. This will be our first time taking this route. So was wondering if any one has stayed at the Arkadelphia Campground in Arkadelphia AR, and Rockdale RV Park in Rockdale, TX. Can you give me your opinions of these parks. Are they easy to find and get off and back on the interstate (or Highways)
Thanks
Been there a few times, they have really fixed the place up. I never have noticed the road noise at night. You can check out some of their new repairs on their website.

RE: Who Is Confused???

....and I'd like to know just HOW does anyone know which of the RVers are "camping" when many stores are open 24/7? ....
Lawn chairs, BBQ, campfire, awning out, slides out, all their stuff out of the RV and stuffed under, 5 kids running around like its their backyard, dog tethered to the bumper, etc. etc.
When RV'ers stop to shop at Walmart they don't set up camp.
Now we are getting some spice in the story...lmao

RE: Who Is Confused???

I just can't understand why anyone else cares.
Because it looks like cr***.
And THAT is exactly why I can't understand why anyone cares! Why do you care if a Walmart parking lot looks like cr**!?!? I might think you look like cr**, but I wouldn't try to ban you. :W
Right AO, who cares, heck who even looks for the antenna being up and what if it is. Dont think they look any different that those light poles sticking up.
Slides out, omg what a shame I like those areas where that slide hangs over the grass myself.

Just my opinion--nothing to back it up--but I don't think Joe Public knows or cares about someone overnighting in a public parking area. I think the ones who care have an informed agenda.
Bingo!! Someone just mentioned the all about me theory and in the next sentence the starting talking about "I" for the personal agenda or belief. Not much different huh.
I do and will continue to overnight where I wish, when I wish as long as it is permitted. There are plenty other places than WM. Enjoy your travels
First the CG owner is Joe Public in his town and yes he has his reasons but there are lots of towns that have banned overniting that dont have a campground for miles----Second person if you read the whole post, this part of "I" said he dont care if you "camp out" in WM, but yes this part of "I" does care if I lose my privilage to overnite because you are being inconsiderate---there are lots of folks out there that have the attitude that it is just about them and they can do no wrong and they are the only one that is right and the heck with the folks that live there and anyone else, I am gonna do as I want---I was raised in a part of the country where we were taught to consider the rights and feelings of others before ourselves---but I have lived in other parts of this country where folks only consider themselves and the heck with their neighbor----so yes I do have an opinion but that and $1.50 may get you a cup of coffee----
Who said anything about being inconsiderate. Sometimes we use WM and when we get a late start and choose to drive into dark and generally this is planned around time to load up groceries etc again. Yep, gonna do it after our month up where we are now, already talked to the WM manager at this location and all is well with them.
Coffee, the WM that have Mickey D's generally run a buck on the dollar menu ( hope that dont make me cheap). And if not I will make it to the next FJ since I will need fuel.
Sure hope I didn't buy my rv for the wrong reason.:B
